Great Essentials Exhibit at Independence Hall

(photos: TheHopefulTraveler)
In the west wing of Independence Hall is the Great Essentials Exhibit which has surviving copies of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States and Articles of Confederation on display. A silver inkstand (pictured below) on display was used during the signing of the Declaration and Constitution.

It's a simply designed but important exhibit that translates the power of words to express ideas which has steered the United States for over 200 years. Great Essentials is in reference to written words of John Adams, second U.S. president.

Entry to Great Essentials is included in the free ticket to Independence Hall. Because of the fragile nature of the documents, the room is very dimly lit and flash photography is discouraged. Visit for more information.
