Regent Street: Historical, Inspiring and Shopping

After the Visitor Centre, I decided to head back to Piccadilly Circus and onward to the historical charm of Regent Street. Named after the Prince Regent (later George IV), the street was completed in 1825 and in 2010 continues to be one of the major shopping destinations in London.

The street is an example of the Beaux Arts approach to urban design: a collection of separate buildings on a grand scale, designed to harmonize and produce and impressive overall effect. Despite the modern trappings of the shopping, the regal air about the street is always inspiring and majestic. More info at regentstreetonline.com.
