Venue: Brooks Atkinson Theatre Spelled by 'Peter and the Starcatcher'

Built in 1926 and originally named the Mansfield Theatre, the Brooks Atkinson Theatre was renamed in 1960 to honor the famed New York Times drama critic, Brooks Atkinson. The intimate playhouse is popular with theatergoers having housed a long list of distinguished productions. Redecorated in 2000, the theatre is once again illuminated by the original chandelier that had been removed 40 years ago. The seats are pretty cramped and like most older Broadway theaters the lobby spaces is really nonexistent. The restrooms and bars are located on the mezzanine level, a narrow hallway really tangled with lines of people. Head outside to the sidewalk for some elbow room during the intermission.

The productions I've seen at the Brooks Atkinson include the revival of 'Noises Off' (2001) starring Patti Lupone, Faith Prince, Katie Finneran and T.R. Knight; the musical revue 'The Look of Love' (2003) featuring the songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David; the most recent revival of 'Grease' (2007) starring Laura Osnes in her Broadway debut; 'Rock of Ages' (2009) starring Constantine Maroulis; and 'Peter and the Starcatcher' (2012).

By the way I attempted to take a snapshot of the auditorium decor but those sharp ushers said photographs are not allowed. Guess they may thought I was taking photo of the detailed set of 'Peter & the Starcatcher'. Anyway got one shot below of the orchestra level.
