Aki Sushi II Japanese Restaurant in Midtown Manhattan

One of the many reasons I'm so thankful to have friends in the city is they constantly introduce me to places to eat in the city that I likely would not have discovered on my own. NYC is a city of restaurants and the choices can be intimidating. Tonight they introduce me to Aki Sushi II.

Aki Sushi II is an intimate Japanese Restaurant. The restaurant advertises their popular items are miso soup, chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura roll, edamame and spicy tuna with crunch roll. Their menu lists a wide selection of appetizers as well as sushi bar selections, soups and salads. Their entree selections are categorized under teriyaki, tempura, don buri, noodles, sushi bar. Sushi and sashimi as well as sushi rolls (vegetarian, aki, combos) can be ordered a la carte. Entrees range in price from $10.95 to $15.95. The sushi entrees range start at $17.95 and increase based on the combination. There's even dessert: mochi ice cream, tempura ice cream and fried banana.

I order the Curry Chicken Terikiyaki. It's more like a stir-fry with only a hint of curry in the sauce that flavors each slice of chicken and every vegetable (carrots, peppers, broccoli, onions). It's simple and filling. The service was very efficient and unhurried and I consider these prices on the low end of New York City dining. I would definitely revisit Aki Sushi II.

Visit akisushi2.net for more information. Aki Sushi II is located on 366 West 52nd Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues). Hours: Sat & Sun 12pm-10:45pm; Mon-Fri 11:15am-10:45pm.
