Way Too Much Cake at Junior's Times Square
If for once I can say there was too much cake to eat in one sitting this was it. A single slice of chocolate/chocolate cake at Junior's is expensive at $6.50 but its a generous serving. Half of it was uneaten by the time I finished the cup of coffee to go with it. The total with a small coffee and tax was $8.13 which is pretty hefty for a dessert meal. These slices are definitely meant to be shared.
Junior's is reputed to have the best cheesecake in the city and I wouldn't doubt it from the look of the delicious display in the bakery. The restaurant is often busy based on the dining crowds on the restaurant's patio. The reputation for their food is on the pricey side and similar to the standard of dishes found at your local diner.
The Times Square location of Junior's opened in 2006 at the corner of 45th Street and One Shubert Alley (between 8th Ave & Broadway). The restaurants features a bakery and take-out counter and patio seating in the summer. Another Junior's restaurant and bakery is located at Grand Central Station. None of the online menus for the restaurants include prices.
More info and to order cheesecakes online at juniorscheesecake.com. Times Square location hours: Mon-Thur 6:30am-12am; Fri & Sat 6:30am-1am; Sun 6:30am-11pm.
