Cake Boss Cafe at Discovery Times Square
New to the Discovery Times Square center is the Cake Boss Cafe. Fans of baker Buddy Valastro and his TLC television network series can enjoy his cakes and other specialties in Manhattan instead of heading over the Hudson to Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken.
The cafe carries connolis, lobster tails, biscotti, cookies and cupcakes and some specialty cakes from Carlo's Bakery. Visitors wanting creations similar to the ones on the reality series will have to head to the Hoboken location.
The cafe is a narrow space with tables at either end of the display counter that opens up to the Discovery Times Square gift shop. For a quick snack after visiting the Harry Potter Exhibition, I ordered a cannoli ($4) and coffee. It's more of an attraction for visitors to say they ate at the Cake Boss Cafe but I have to admit the baked goods in the display all look yummy.
Admission is not required to visit the Cake Boss Cafe which like the exhibitions is located in the basement of the Times Square Building. The Cake Boss Cafe is located at 226 West 44th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. Hours: 11am-6:30pm daily.
